This beautiful bed is handcrafted from over 100 year old oak and pine barnwood timbers utilizing mortise and tenon joinery to create a work of art that will be a family heirloom. The legs, crosspieces and bed frame are oak from a hay barn in northern Michigan. The vertical slats in the headboard and footboard are pine and oak harvested from several barns in mid-Michigan. Each board has weathered a little differently creating a unique look. I never know what color each board will be until I finish it and I am always surprised by the results. The bed is finished with two coats of oil based finish.
